Saffron is one of the most expensive spices in the world . The town of pampore in pulwama district of kashmir is the almost exclusive saffron producer in india. Saffron flower picking in pampore , kashmir is generally a family affair. The whole family converges on their fields and over the course of few hours plucks thousand of saffron flower . The stamens of these flowers are separated at home. The saffron is purple in color but its rich yellow stamen is what makes it more unique in addition saffron spice takes a lot of time and skill to cultivate it.
